Any professional bondsmen licensed under Chapter 533, surety bail bond agent licensed under Chapter 700f, or bail enforcement agent licensed under sections 29-152f to 29-152i, inclusive, that desires to carry a pistol, revolver or other firearm while engaging in the business of a professional bondsmen, surety bail bond agent or bail enforcement agent, as the case may be, or while traveling to or from such business, must first obtain a special permit from the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection.

You must provide proof of satisfaction to the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection that you have successfully completed a BEA firearm safety course, approved by the State Police. The course involves classroom training in safety and use of firearms and range qualification.

Live WebEx Class followed by Shooting Qualification at the firing range

All BEA applicants must have a Connecticut State pistol permit prior to applying for the special BEA gun permit. HF LearnSafety LLC also provides the required Basic Safety Class for those seeking to obtain their Connecticut pistol license.

Annual Firearm Qualification for CT Bail Enforcement Agents
  • Fee: $220. Agent brings 60 rounds of ammunition and firearm. Addition fee for additional firearms.

  • Commercial  indoor firearms range additional.

HF LearnSafety Cancellation Policy: No refunds are available. If you are unable to attend a pre-registered class, you may reschedule by contacting us no later than three days prior to the class date. You may only reschedule once and must take the rescheduled class within a two-month period. Class registration is transferable to another person.  HF LearnSafety reserves the right to cancel and reschedule any class due to low enrollment.
